Once again we provided exceptional audio reinforcement for the Utah Summer Games Opening Ceremonies. The opening ceremonies were held at Southern Utah University’s Eccles Coliseum with over 10,000 people attending the event.
To provided clear full range coverage of the entire venue we deployed an arsenal of L-Acoustics and D&B audiotechnik Loud Speakers. This year due to a high wind forecast and weight limits on the new turf field we decided to go with a ground stacked delayed ring approach for our loudspeaker deployment. On the left and right sides of the stage there was an array of 2 J-Subs with 3 J12's and 2 J8's which were used to cover the infield. An array of 8 B2-Subs were placed center stage to provide the low end reinforcement for Recycled Percussion's performance. To cover the stands and out field we deployed 4 arrays of Kara Loudspeakers which were stacked on top of SB28's and SB18's. And to cover the end-field we deployed 4 arrays of Kiva loudspeakers stacked on top of SB15's. Once we got all of the speaker locations time aligned things sounded great and the coverage was exceptional.
To get the audio to each speaker location we used a Lectrosonics IFB 400 wireless transmission system. A Yamaha CL-3 digital mixing console was used as the FOH Mix console and was manned by Aaron Kopp. A CL-5 console was used to mix monitors for the band and was manned by Tyler Robinson. Scott Futrell took care of Logistics, System Tech for the system and manning the stage. With a spectacular fire works display and with Recycled Percussion putting on a spectacular performance that wowed the crowd, we can say the the event was a huge success.
