Poll Sound recently provided audio support for Toby Keith's live performance in Laughlin Nevada. The event was a huge success and audio perfection was achieved.
The venue was particularly large with the rear of the audience area sitting around 290' and at a height of 35' above ground level. To cover the large area without using delays we chose to deploy a large J-Series loudspeaker system from D&B audiotechnik. We used 6 J8's and 6 J12's per side for a total of 24 cabinets in the main hangs. We were privileged to be on a Stageline SAM575 stage which gave us plenty of trim height to achieve consistent SPL coverage across the spread of the venue.
Low frequency coverage was handled by 16 J-Subs spread out evenly in front of the stage in eight stacks of two. We then used data from d&b's ArrayCalc software to set individual delay times to each sub cluster which optimized the low frequency coverage across the venue and minimized the effects of low frequency lobing at our target frequency of 63hz.
To make sure that the front rows of our audience had an amazing sounding performance we placed 6 L-Acoustics Kara loudspeakers across the front lip of the stage. This filled the the gap between the main hangs and the stage quite nicely!
Toby's tour package took care of all their processing and stage needs so we only provided stage and FOH support for the opener Mark Wills. Working with Mark was a pleasure and a very simple process, we deployed a Yamaha CL3 at FOH and due to Mark's performance being an acoustic one we mixed monitors from the same console.
Achieving Audio Perfection is what we live to do at Poll Sound, we won't stop working till our staff and clients are 100% satisfied with the results of their sound system.
